2020 - It's been a Year

Thank you for your support for Direct Support for Immigrants and the immigrants that we work with in Montgomery and Prince George's counties!

2020 YEAR IN REVIEW

DSI adapted quickly during the pandemic to provide more support with material goods. But we continue to help folks access services like healthcare, pro bono dental care, and legal assistance.

Thank you to our donors, our volunteers, our partners, and our supporters!

Since the pandemic began, we've conducted intake calls with 110 new households, totaling more than 330 people. We also reached out to check on more than 70 previously served households.

We helped families access more than $50,000 in emergency assistance funds, given to them directly by Sanctuary DMV and the Montgomery County government.

We've distributed out $40,000 of food assistance in the form of supermarket gift cards and gift certificates. Additionally, DSI volunteers delivered out 779 food pantry boxes to families in Montgomery and Prince George's counties.

In November, 90 households received whole Thanksgiving turkeys, pans, a recipe and Salvadoran spice packet.

In December, 27 Families received holiday gifts through sponsor donors.

In the second half of the year, volunteers have delivered out more than 100 boxes of diapers.
